Significant improvement seen in the energy and attitudes from the guests at Bridges of Hope Shelter

This question was posed to the team that oversees the services at Bridges of Hope, the homeless shelter in Xenia. “Do you feel like things are better, worse, or the same since Emerge started a partnership in January?”  The response was encouraging. There has been a significant improvement in the energy and attitudes of the guests.

Four clients are currently moving from intensive outpatient into aftercare, which means they have maintained recovery, moved toward their personal goals, and are moving closer to getting back to a life that they can be proud of! The groups here have been meeting for ninety days, which has allowed hundreds of hours of client-to-counselor interaction, in which our agency has gotten to know a beautiful population with immeasurable potential!

Nate Crago, Director of Community Engagement has provided some intensive outpatient group counseling and the response has been great. “I currently have several in my group that are pursuing a 12-step recovery path, several that are leaning towards a more faith-based approach, and a few that are exploring a combination of both. A few are back to work, a couple are enrolled in trade school or college, and one has recently transitioned into a long-term recovery home at Hope Hub. Every day we engage in some great group discussions on topics such as long-term and short-term goals, identifying triggers and relapse warning signs, coping with stress, and building a support network. It is exciting seeing people experience hope for the first time in a long time!”
