Walking with Faith

A young non-profit comes with many ups and downs. We have so many things to be thankful for at Emerge and I thank God every day for His blessings. Our team looks at the mission of Emerge as a calling and they have dedicated so much to make this operation run smoothly while serving the clients to our highest potential.

I was reminded recently in a church sermon that sometimes when God calls us to do something, we still encounter storms. What is the purpose of this? Developing our faith. James 1:2-3 says, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.”

Faith is one of our core values at Emerge. It’s one thing to say it, it’s another to walk it out. My prayer for Emerge and for anyone reading this is that you have the faith to endure the storms. Understand that entering into storms where you feel called does not mean God has turned his back on you; he is working on you to bring you to the next level.

As we transition our Recovery Housing residents to Yellow Springs, we are on the hunt for a few used passenger vans in good running order. This will allow our men to easily access their outpatient services at our main campus. Contact Nate Crago for additional details: nathan.crago@emergerecoverytrade.com

There has been a tremendous response to our plea for new mattresses! So far we have received 12 from the First Friday Mayor’s Event with Bob Stone; 10 from Greene Giving; and 5 from the Knights of Columbus Incarnation/St.Leonard Council 10215. If you would like to support the gift of a good night’s sleep, we invite you to mail a check of $100 to Emerge at 2960 W. Emerge in the Community

We have been so grateful to get to know the amazing individuals at Bridges of Hope, and we were able to provide De-Escalation training for the staff. These techniques are important for those working with the guests who have experienced trauma.

The techniques teach:

  • Respect for personal space; maintaining a safe distance and avoiding close contact with the other person.
  • Listening skills by giving your full attention, nodding, asking questions, and avoiding changing the subject or interrupting.
  • Empathy by presenting genuine concern and a willingness to understand without judging.
  • Tone by speaking calmly to demonstrate empathy.

We have witnessed tender moments as the residents there reach out for a better future. There have been two individuals who have started new jobs over the last two weeks!

In the community, we are offering a new six-part series at Christian Life Center. This series will address the caregivers and families facing addiction, with topics like; avoiding enabling, motivational interviewing, stages of change, and education in community supports.

To learn more about this series for your faith community, contact Casey Steckling at casey.stecking@emergerecoverytrade.com or call 937.272.4925

It was inspiring to see the dreams and restoration happening within the building. I am honored to partner with Emerge because the biggest dream and restoration project is not for the building itself but for the lives within those walls.”

-Jordan Moore, Outreach Team Lead

Christian Life Center

In March, Jordan and Christian as part of the CLC team awarded Emerge a gift from the God-Sized Vision grant to support the construction of a two-bay hydroponic greenhouse to support training and food for the men in our program.

CAMPUS TRANSITIONS

With the transition of our Men’s Recovery Housing program to Yellow Springs in the next few months, we will be providing Residential Treatment Housing at the main campus in Xenia.

This level of care is most appropriate for those with severe substance use issues who may be transitioning from a detox facility, or correctional institution, or struggling with not a safe supportive living environment. They are displaced individuals and benefit greatly from the additional structure and support that a residential facility has to offer.

Anyone that may be interested in participating in our residential treatment services or walk-in clinic is welcome.

WALK-IN CLINIC

Open 9am-12pm, Monday- Friday

COMMUNITY COLLABORATIONS

Over the past month, the Emerge team has continued to form partnerships to better serve the needs within our community.

We continue to work with judicial systems and probation departments in Greene, Clark, Montgomery, Miami, and Clinton counties in order to help our mutual clients connect with Emerge substance use treatment services so that they may have a smooth and successful transition back into the community from incarceration.
