November at The Trades Institute: A Month of Grit, Growth & Gratitude

As the season of gratitude settles in, we’re reminded of just how much we have to be thankful for at The Trades Institute. November has been a month filled with progress, perseverance, and powerful moments in each of our labs. Most of all, we’re grateful — for our students, our instructors, our employer partners, and the hope that the skilled trades continue to bring to our community.

HVAC Lab: Grateful for Growth

With graduation just around the corner, our HVAC students have shown extraordinary dedication. This November, they took on one of their biggest challenges yet: completely disassembling and reassembling an 80% furnace — and they didn’t stop there. They can now perform full installations with confidence and skill. We are grateful for their grit, their drive, and their willingness to do the hard things that set them apart.

Plumbing Lab: Thankful for Progress

Our Plumbing cohort mastered key milestones in their Core Construction Certification, including the safe and precise use of power tools. We’re thankful for their commitment to professionalism and craftsmanship. They’re not just learning — they’re becoming.

Auto Technician Lab: Appreciating Real-World Experience

This month, our Auto Tech students stepped into real-world application at Pitt Stop Auto & Tire, where they conducted hands-on safety inspections. They didn’t just watch — they worked, identifying and replacing a stripped wheel stud successfully. We are grateful for local partners who open their doors, and for students who rise to every opportunity.

Looking Ahead to 2026 With Gratitude

We’re excited — and deeply grateful — for what’s ahead. In early 2026, we will officially launch our Electrical Program, expanding our mission to equip students for even more in-demand, life-changing careers. This new program represents growth, hope, and a continued commitment to meeting workforce needs with excellence.

Why We’re Thankful for Trades

In a world that’s changing fast, the trades stand strong — offering stability, purpose, and a path forward for so many. This month, we pause to recognize what the trades truly represent:

  • Dignity in hands-on work
  • Purpose in problem-solving
  • Opportunity for long-term growth
  • Careers that strengthen families and communities

We’re grateful for every student who walks into our labs each day choosing transformation over limitation.

Did You Know?

  • Over 1 million trade jobs in the U.S. remain unfilled.
  • Skilled trades are largely automation-proof, requiring real human expertise.
  • By 2030, the U.S. may face a shortage of 2.1 million skilled workers — creating unprecedented opportunity.

Thank You, Students, Partners, and Supporters

As we close out November, we want to thank our students who show up with courage, our instructors who teach with heart, our employer partners who believe in second chances, and our community that continues to champion our mission.

We don’t just train workers — we help people build new futures. And for that, we are truly grateful.
