Emerge Recovery and Trade Initiative Expands SUD Services with New Daily Skills Groups
GROUPS equip clients with practical tools for managing triggers, building resilience, and supporting long-term recovery.
In a meaningful enhancement to its recovery programming, Emerge Recovery and Trade Initiative has launched new skills groups offered five days a week as part of its Partial Hospitalization level of care in their substance use treatment line of services. These groups are now available in addition to Partial Hospitalization (PH) groups which continues to provide comprehensive care seven days a week, for individuals managing both substance use and co-occurring mental health conditions.
The skills groups are specifically designed to teach and reinforce practical coping strategies that support long-term recovery. Participants engage in structured sessions that focus on managing triggers, preventing relapse, regulating emotions, and navigating everyday challenges with confidence and resilience.
“These groups are about helping our clients take what they’re learning in treatment and apply it directly to real-life situations,” said a clinician at Emerge. “We’re creating a space where they can build new habits, practice healthy communication, and feel supported every step of the way.”
Benefits of the skills groups include:
- Effective trigger and relapse management: Participants learn to identify high-risk situations and respond in ways that protect their recovery.
- Enhanced interpersonal skills: Group activities promote healthy communication, boundary-setting, and relationship-building.
- Increased confidence and self-efficacy: Practicing new coping strategies helps clients trust in their ability to handle stress and setbacks.
- Routine and structure: Offering groups five days a week supports consistency and accountability in clients’ recovery journeys.
These new skills groups are a valuable addition to the PH level of care, which remains central to our treatment model. While the PH program provides a broad therapeutic foundation, skills groups focus more narrowly on practical application and day-to-day resilience. Together, they offer a comprehensive and integrated recovery experience, empowering individuals with the tools, support, and confidence needed to achieve lasting change.
